FootballCAF raises its yearly grant to federations to US$700,000
CAF has raised its yearly grant to each of its 54 member federations by 33%, to up to US$700,000.
On 14 October 2026, CAF President Patrice Motsepe announced that each of CAF's 54 member associations, the national football federations, can now receive up to US$700,000 a year from CAF, up from US$525,000. That is a 33% increase.
A fast rise since 2021
In 2021 the annual grant was US$200,000. It then rose to US$400,000, then US$525,000, and now US$700,000: three and a half times the 2021 level, which CAF describes as a 250% increase. Each CAF zonal union will also receive US$900,000 a year, up from US$750,000.
What the money is for
CAF says the funds should strengthen football development structures, invest in youth and women's football, and improve administration and governance. For Senegal's federation, the new ceiling is worth about 409 million FCFA a year, according to the Senegalese daily Le Soleil.
What it means
CAF grants are a base, not a commercial strategy. Federations with stronger administration are better placed to build sponsorship packages, report to partners and deliver what they promise. For brands, better-run federations mean lower risk. For federations, it is a good moment to invest in commercial and marketing skills.
